EU cities are invited to participate in the fourth edition of the Access City Award - The European Prize for making cities more accessible to people with disabilities and older people. The European Commission continues to encourage cities with over 50 000 inhabitants from all Member States to present their activities and strategies designed to make cities barrier-free, better places to live for everyone. It is an opportunity for EU cities to showcase and share their work and plans on accessibility.

The ten finalists for the Awards, funded and co-ordinated each year by the Building and Social Housing Foundation, have been chosen from a list of over 200 projects from across the globe and include projects focusing on homeless people, access to clean energy and community-led service provision as well as restoration and sustainable living in cities.

The Rockefeller Foundation today announced a three-year, $100-million effort to help 100 cities around the world develop plans to become more resilient to catastrophes.
The funds will be used to hire “chief resilience officers” in each of the cities who will coordinate efforts to help withstand shocks due to climate change, economic collapses, terrorist attacks, and pandemics.
