Mr Paul Victor Obeng, Chairman National Development Planning Commission (NDPC), has expressed concern about the insanitary condition which has engulfed many urban areas in the country.
He said the worsening condition which is gradually becoming a major characteristic of some urban areas in the country is unacceptable and urged district assemblies to enforce their by-laws on sanitation.
Mr Fuyuki Sagara, Senior Representative of the Japan International Co-operation Agency (JICA), Ghana Office, yesterday said the agency would keep focusing on support for urban modernization in developing countries.
He said JICA had developed a strategic urban master plan for the rapid socio-economic transformation of developing countries.
Mr Sagara stated at the fourth international seminar on urban development in Asia and Africa in Accra.
