El programa Buen Comienzo fue creado por el Concejo de Medellín en noviembre de 2004, y empezó a operar en noviembre de 2006, atendiendo de forma integral a la población infantil vulnerable de la ciudad entre la gestación y los 5 años de vida.

Exhibición:Mejores Prácticas Urbanas:25 Historias de éxito

Continuando su recorrido por las ciudades de Latinoamérica y Caribe, entre ellas Río de Janeiro durante el Foro Urbano Mundial 2010, San Salvador, San José de Costa Rica y Medellín entre otras, la exhibición de experiencias urbanas exitosas procedentes de 25 países del mundo, será expuesta en Aguascalientes - México, ciudad donde se llevarán a cabo los eventos oficiales de celebración del Día Mundial del Hábitat.

Cementos Mexicanos (CEMEX)

Cementos Mexicanos (CEMEX) is awarded the 2009 Scroll of Honour Award for helping more than 1 million poor people build their own homes, and more. CEMEX, the world’s largest construction supplies company, which grossed over USD 21 billion in 2008, is awarded for their Patrimonio Hoy and Productive Centres for Self-employment (Community Blockers) initiatives.

Un Techo Para Mi Pais

Un Techo Para Mi Pais is awarded the 2009 Scroll of Honour Award for providing over 42,000 homes for the poor in 15 Latin American countries. The Chile based non-governmental organization was awarded for getting thousands of young volunteers, the private sector, universities and governments to raise awareness about slum conditions. This initiative has seen the organization build some 42,000 houses in 15 countries across Latin America. The project is having a major impact on the lives of the poor by giving them decent housing.

Encuesta de Calidad de Vida Medellín 2008

The City of Medellin is awarded the 2010 Scroll of Honour Award for the successful implementation of three programmes to reduce urban poverty, provide health care for children and give citizens a say in urban services. The poverty reduction programme has targeted 40,000 of the city's poorest households. The health programme ensures that all of five and below have institutional, paediatric health care, while the third programme seeks to consistently survey the impact of city services to ensure that decisions taken have the right impact in the right areas.
