Dr. J. Michael Cobb, AICP is Managing Director of IDC International Development Consultants, LLC. Founded in 1998 and based in . Princeton, New Jersey, IDC provides international urban and regional development planning and implementation services for public and private sector clients worldwide. Dr. Cobb is also a founding member of Urbanism3.Org, a non-profit entity focusing on assisting developing countries in the areas of adaptation to climate change and the planning and management of f rapid urbanization.
Dr. has over thirty years of experience in planning, research, management and implementation of urban, regional, environmental and infrastructure development projects located throughout the world. This includes work in Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Venezuela, Lebanon, South Korea, the Dominican Republic, Thailand, Indonesia, Uganda, South Africa and other countries. His experience includes national planning for reconstruction, large-scale urban redevelopment projects institutional capacity building, program analysis and evaluation, environmental and infrastructure planning, project feasibility assessment and public-private finance.
Dr. Cobb is an alumnus of Princeton University and the University of Pennsylvania in the USA.

Prior to forming IDC, Dr. Cobb was a consultant and former executive professional with Bechtel International, Planning Research Corporation and EDAW, Dr. Cobb’s experience and responsibilities have also included: organizing multi-national project teams; developing multi-stakeholder public participation programs; developing in-country organizational capacity; establishing and managing new multi-national program planning and delivery for multi-million dollar infrastructure and environmental contracts with national and local governments and with private industry.
Licenses: Dr. Cobb is licensed in New Jersey USA as a Professional Planner (PP) and in Real Estate. He is a Fellow of the Institute for Urban Design and a Charter Member of the American Institute of Certified Planners. In addition to technical skills, Dr. Cobb has extensive experience in project planning and development, group and corporate staff management, and direct coordination with the highest levels of government and industry. He has also authored numerous technical reports and publications and has been a frequent guest speaker at professional conferences and universities in the U.S. and abroad.
