Internship Opportunity - Communications

The Young Women’s Leadership Institute (YWLI) is a feminist organization whose mission is to nurture  young women’s leadership and create spaces for their engagement in policy processes.

YWLI is currently seeking a dynamic, highly motivated and creative young intern with strong communication skills to support implementation of core activities within the Authentic Leadership Programme. She will be required to conceptualize and implement a project that is linked to the core organizational mandate of YWLI.

During the 6 month internship, the intern will under work under the supervision of the Programme Associate under the Authentic Leadership Programme and support the work of YWLI as required. The intern will have opportunities to provide critical administrative and logistical support to the programme as well as contributing to the programmatic work of YWLI.

Duties

  • Provide logistical support to the Authentic Leadership programme;
  • Assist in the maintaining and updating of the YWLI website;
  • Assist in communication activities related to the Authentic Leadership programme;
  • Assist in writing and editing YWLI documents, reports and publciations;
  • Assist in facilitating and development of the IEC materials produced for the Authentic Leadership programme and YWLI as a whole;
  • Conceptualise and implement a project that explores the themes of communication, young women's leadership and social justice

As a result of the internship, the intern will:

  • Acquire skills in programme and office management; reporting and documentation; and project cycle;
  • Interact with and learn more about young women’s issues, leadership, feminism and the women's movements; 
  • Contribute to the development of YWLI as a center of excellence for training young women leaders.
